McKinney Relay For Life Facts

Many cancer patients and their families in the McKinney community receive programs and services as a direct result of funds raised through Relay For Life. Some of these services include: Early Detection, Prevention Education, Transportation to and from Medical Treatment, Patient-to-Patient Visitation, Breast Prostheses, Wigs and Medical Equipment.   

This is our 7th annual event in McKinney, we have raised over  $1,590,000.00 in our first 6 years.

In 2008, our 7th year,  (Event Chairs  - Sharon Laird & BJ Ray)

  • This Year's Goal is $450,000

  • This Year's Goal is a $125,000 Underwriting Dollars

 

In 2007, our 6th year,  (Event Chairs  - Sharon Laird & BJ Ray)

  • We raised over $434,000

  • We raised $100,000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 150 teams 

  • 257 survivors attended

  • Over 3800 people participated

Recognition:  

  • McKinney RFL received the 1st place High Plains Relay Award, recognizing it as the division’s top online fundraising relay.
  • Collin County took the 1st place High Plains Per Capita Relay Award for Relays held in McKinney, Allen, Frisco and Plano. 
  • McKinney RFL also received the 4th place High Plains Overall Dollars Raised Award & 2nd place in Texas
  • The Krings Team, McKinney RFL participants, received the second place High Plains Top Team Award for raising $52,000 for last year’s Relay.

    Note: The High Plains Division, consists of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Hawaii, and Guam

In 2006, our 5th year,  (Event Chair  - Alan Barker)

  • We raised over $275,000

  • We raised $40,000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 118 teams 

  • 221 survivors attended

  • 138 caregivers attended

  • Over 3000 people participated

Recognition:

  • Number "1" Relay Event in North Texas

  • Number "3" Relay in the entire State of Texas.

  • Number "8" Relay in the entire High Plains Division 

    • "High Plains Division, consists of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Hawaii, and Guam

 

In 2005, our 4th year,  (Event Chairs  - Bill & Maggie White)

  • We raised over $343,000

  • We raised $42,000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 152 teams 

  • 250 survivors attended

  • 150 caregivers attended

  • Over 3200 people participated

      Recognition:

  • Number "1" Relay Event in North Texas

  • Number "2" Relay in the entire State of Texas.

In 2004, our 3rd year,  (Event Chairs  - Alan & Ellen Barker)

  • We raised over $270,000

  • We raised $25,000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 140 teams 

  • 219 survivors attended

  • 130 caregivers attended

  • Over 2500 people participated

      Recognition:

  • Number "1" Relay Event in North Texas

  • The best 3rd year Relay in the State History

  • Number "2" Relay in the entire State of Texas.

In 2003, our 2nd year,  (Event Chairs  - Joni Phillips & Tom Willock)

  • We raised over $195,000

  • We raised $12,000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 118 teams 

  • 180 survivors attended

  • Over 1800 people participated

      Recognition:

  • Number "1" Relay Event in North Texas

  • The best 2nd year Relay in the State History

  • Number "3" Relay Event in the entire State of Texas.

In 2002, our very 1st year,  (Event Chair & Founder - Joni Phillips)

  • We raised over $72,000

  • We raised $2000 Underwriting Dollars

  • We had 90 teams 

  • 50 survivors attended

  • Over 650 people participated

      Recognition:

  • The best 1st year Relay Event in North Texas
